After being a 2 time All-State player at Decorah High School in Decorah, IA, Bret Van Sloten signed with Iowa to play for Coach Ferentz and the Hawkeyes. After redshirting in 2009, Van Sloten saw extensive action in 2010 and 2011 before becoming a fixture as the starting Right Tackle for his final two years as a Hawkeye. In addition to his exceptional playing career, Van Sloten was named to the Academic All-Big Ten Football Team for 4 consecutive years. He was also named to the 2013 Coaches All Big 10 2nd Team for his on field exploits. Van Sloten graduated from Iowa with a business degree in the spring of 2014 and with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens.
