Derek Weisskopf of Victor, Iowa joined the Hawkeyes after an accomplished high school career at Williamsburg High School. In addition to being an all-state basketball player and a two-time state high jump champion, he starred on the football field, earning all-state honors, being named Gazette co-Player of the Year, and receiving Adidas All-American recognition. Weisskopf was a letterwinner in the 2025 season, appearing in 11 games during his Redshirt Freshman campaign.
