James Vandenberg is a homegrown football talent and was a starting quarterback for the Iowa Hawkeyes. James went to Keokuk High School in Keokuk, Iowa. While in high school, he was the most prolific passer in Iowa high school history, ranking sixth all-time nationally in single-season completion percentage and tenth nationally in career completion percentage. He held 10 different Iowa high school passing records, including career touchdown passes and single-season touchdown passes. As a Hawkeye, James saw action in four games as a redshirt freshman and three more games as a sophomore before winning the starting job during his junior and senior years. He also earned academic All-Big Ten honors in 2009 and finished his Iowa career tied for third in single-season touchdown passes (25) and ranking fourth in season passing yards (3,022) and ninth in career passing yards (3,537). His 399 passing yards vs. Pittsburgh tied for the seventh-best single-game total in school history, while 31 completions rank fourth best and 48 attempts tied as seventh best. James now works as a Financial Advisor at RBC Wealth Management.
