A full-time outdoor writer since 1993, his work has appeared in numerous national publications including Field & Steam, Outdoor Life, Sports Afield, American Rifleman and Time. Named Field & Stream’s Shooting Editor in 2002, he contributes a monthly shotgunning column to the magazine. He is also the author of the Field & Stream Turkey Hunting Handbook. He has traveled to 19 states, 3 Canadian provinces and South America in pursuit of upland birds.

Ashley Jay

Ashley Jay is 25 years old and currently residing in Greenville, South Carolina. She’s always had a passion for the outdoors and grew up heavily involved with equestrian riding and learning about conservation in the Florida Everglades. Her journey as an outdoor personality started in 2009 when she began to shoot competitive archery. Jay then became a student of the outdoors by reaching out to those around her to learn as much as she could about wildlife, hunting and farming. Since she got started, she hasn’t looked back and is thankful that the Lord opened up so many opportunities. Jay is now the co-host of Knight and Hales Ultimate Hunting on the Outdoor Channel with legends Harold Knight and David Hale. In addition, she shoots competitively in ASA tournaments, works with PRADCO Outdoor Brands, serves as an assistant coach for the high school volleyball team, competes in NPC fitness competitions, trains horses and gets to travel the world hunting and sharing with those who have the same passion for the outdoors as she does. John Campbell

John Campbell

A native of Oskaloosa, Iowa, John Campbell recently retired after spending the last 33 years of his career as Sports Director for KCRG-TV9. After starting his career in Green Bay and covering the Packers, John Campbell eventually found his way home and was named the sports director at KCRG in 1979 and has been a well-known and popular fixture in Eastern Iowa sports circles ever since. He is also the first TV sports director named to the Kinnick Stadium Press Box Wall of Fame at the University of Iowa and recognition by the Iowa High School Athletic Association. During his stellar career, Campbell earned many additional honors including Silver Circle Award (lifetime Emmy) in 2010 from the Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Sportscaster of the Year from the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association and extensive recognition from the Iowa High School Athletic Director’s Association and the Iowa Broadcast News Association. Campbell also has been known for his great outdoors story telling (and local fishing reports), and he has ridden RAGBRAI 14 times, most recently this past summer.
Kevin Kolb

Kevin Kolb

Kevin spent 2011 as the quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals after 4 years with the Philadelphia Eagles who drafted him in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft. Kolb attended Stephenville High School in Stephenville, Texas, where he was a three-year starter at quarterback. He moved on to the University of Houston where he earned Conference USA Offensive Most Valuable Player of the Year honors in 2006. In the NFL, Kolb started two games for the Eagles in 2009 in place of the injured Donovan McNabb and earned NFC Player of the Week honors following his week 3 performance against the Kansas City Chiefs. Following McNabb’s trade to the Washington Redskins in April 2010, Kolb became the starting quarterback for the Eagles, but was traded to the Cardinals prior to the start of the 2011 season. Kolb then signed with the Buffalo Bills prior to the 2013 season. After suffering a season ending injury, Kolb retired and now runs a business in Texas. When not working, Kolb is an avid outdoorsman and competes in North Texas fishing tournaments as well as hunting wild hogs in his spare time.
Brett Van Sloten

After being a 2 time All-State player at Decorah High School in Decorah, IA, Bret Van Sloten signed with Iowa to play for Coach Ferentz and the Hawkeyes. After redshirting in 2009, Van Sloten saw extensive action in 2010 and 2011 before becoming a fixture as the starting Right Tackle for his final two years as a Hawkeye. In addition to his exceptional playing career, Van Sloten was named to the Academic All-Big Ten Football Team for 4 consecutive years. He was also named to the 2013 Coaches All Big 10 2nd Team for his on field exploits. Van Sloten graduated from Iowa with a business degree in the spring of 2014 and with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens.
Jared DeVries

Jared DeVries

Jared DeVries is a former college and pro football player who was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons. DeVries was born in Aplington, Iowa and attended Aplington-Parkersburg High School, where he was an all-state selection as a senior and junior, and a high school All-American and All-Midwest pick as a senior at defensive end in 1993. He also played as a fullback and gained over 4,000 yards. He played college football for the University of Iowa from 1995 to 1998 where he earned All-American honors and set the Hawkeyes’ team record for career quarterback sacks with 43 and tackles-for-loss with 79. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft, and played his entire professional career for the Lions. He is currently an assistant coach for the Clear Lake High School high school football team.
Michael Talbott

Michael Talbott

Born in Waverly, Iowa, Michael Talbott became a television and film star best known for his co-starring role as Detective Stanley Switek in the 1980s series Miami Vice. Some other television credits include MASH, Sanford and Son, The Jeffersons and Eight is Enough. Talbott also appeared in a number of films including Carrie, Big Wednesday, Any Which Way You Can, Used Cars, Manhunter and First Blood. Talbott currently lives currently lives in his hometown of Waverly, Iowa and is an active member and advocate of the National Rifle Association (NRA). Other interests have included serving as a spokesperson and presenter for Panteao Productions, a production company and distributor of firearms and tactical videos.
Alex Van Pelt

Alex Van Pelt

Van Pelt was a star college quarterback and a 4 year starter at the University of Pittsburgh. While at Pittsburgh, Van Pelt set a number of school passing records formerly held by NFL hall of famer Dan Marino. After being drafted by his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers, Van Pelt moved to the Kansas City Chiefs in 1994. After only six months with the team, he left to join the Buffalo Bills where he spent the remainder of his NFL playing career spanning from 1995-2003. Since leaving the game as a player, Van Pelt has enjoyed a coaching career including successful stints with the Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and, his current team, the Green Bay Packers. He spent 2013 grooming NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, Eddie Lacy, as the Packers’ Running Backs Coach and was promoted in February 2014 to QB Coach for the Packers.
